This week has been an odd week and it is only Wednesday. But it doesn't feel like Wednesday. I've had the hardest time figuring out what day it is.

I think there is a conspiracy going on here. And I think that somehow Tim is involved, whether consciously or not. See, I tend to wear brown clothes as I think that color works on me. My husband is not a fan of brown clothes. I just realized this week that the two pairs of nice-ish brown slacks I have both need to be repaired as the cuff on the right leg of both of them has come undone. I find it too much of a coincidence that they both have the right cuff unsewn. *glares suspiciously at my right ankle*

Last night all of the co-workers and I went out to have a nice dinner. On my way home I got pulled over. I was in a mild panic. I went through my mind what I could have possibly done to get pulled over: speeding? no. swerving? no. seatbelt? on. blinker? used. I had had two small glasses of wine with dinner, but that was over a few hours and with lots of food and water mixed in.

Turns out my passenger headlight and license plate light were both out. The officer ended up just giving me a reminder - not even an official fix-it ticket - after checking my drivers license and insurance card and verifying my contacts were in. I believe the only words I said to him were "Yes, sir. No, sir. Sounds good. Thank you, sir. You, too." I promptly drove the remaining 4 blocks home and had a warm bubble bath. I'm bringing my car in this afternoon to have the lights replaced - I'm stressed out enough as it is without getting accosted by the authorities. (I'm exaggerating - the police officer was very polite. I hadn't noticed my lights were out, so I'm thankful he told me.)

I'm excited for [livejournal.com profile] thetim and [livejournal.com profile] princess_nicci's wedding this weekend. It should be a lot of fun. Then on Monday I'm flying down to Dallas for a few days for work. I'm not sure how that will be, but it's a new state on my list.

I need a nap.

So, [livejournal.com profile] thetim and [livejournal.com profile] princess_nicci have been kind enough to ask me to be an usher in their wedding in March. The difficulty lies in that the main color of the wedding is brown and it will be in a catholic church so I apparently have to wear sleeves of some sort. (I don't know these rules - I was baptized catholic but we went to Lutheran churches up until I went Humanist)

I think I have found a winner:

Brown is challenging as there are many shades and mixing multiple shades of it usually doesn't work. I hope this one won't clash too badly and is still classy enough to walk Nicci's elder relatives up the aisle while not making me look like a potato sack. But one doesn't want to show up the lovely bride, either.

Hopefully it will fit, also. It said it should arrive within 4 to 7 business days...

OH! I didn't even think about the what shoes I'd wear!

Screw those ugly ass Ugg boots. Buy me some genuine Mukluks.

I've been putting off a lot of things lately that I shouldn't have and they're starting to bite me in the butt.

I should really call my aunt back to let her know we'd love to go to her house for Thanksgiving. The 4-ish hour drive (one-way) to her house in Deer River is a little ick-ish, but it'd be nice to see my grandma.

i should really pick up the box of contacts I have at the optomitrist's office that's been there for over a week.

I put off ordering tickets to Body World for today so they sold out and I missed getting to hang out with Ms. [livejournal.com profile] jo_mommday. (Luckily we also got an invite to [livejournal.com profile] thetim's place so we hung out with him all day instead. It was fun!)

I kept putting off repaying [livejournal.com profile] superna for the Spamalot tickets for next summer. Luckily she remembered and we evened up last night during poker.

[livejournal.com profile] viksin finally remembered the shirt she borrowed, oh, last year, and then we both forgot after she left Janna's last night. DOH!

I should really do some laundry as the pile of not clean is getting taller and the pile of clean and match-able is getting smaller.

Our kennel project is only part-way done and we haven't touched it in about a month and it is getting colder out.

Our nephew Craig will be ten on Thursday and his birthday gathering for the family is on Sunday and we don't have a gift for him yet...

And christmas cards and gifts for everyone are yet to be decided... ack!

I should go to bed, yet, too. :) Snuggle up to my wonderful husband and a purr-cat...

Do you have any idea how hard it is to find squirt guns in this town?

No, I don't want a $30 super pump-action alien colored strap on your back super soaker oozinater. I just want a simple squirt gun! Target only had the super expensive alien phallus, Coborns only had three left of these animal shaped squirtguns (they looked like angy blue hippos) that didn't seem like they'd work at all, and I finally ended up at Walgreens and found a wider selection.

And, I can't believe it's school supply season already. GAH!

Had the hardest time trying to find a gift for our nephew Alex. It's his graduation party today and also his going away party as he's being shipped out to bootcamp for the Navy next month. I'm still coming up blanks. When I asked him in May what he wanted for his birthday, he couldn't think of anything either, so I got him a leather motorcycle jacket: that Tim ended up wanting, too. Then I had to go get one for me, too: But still no gift for Alex. I got him a nice card, though. I dunno. What do you get a guy who has everything and can't take anything with him for the next few months? Who will be a different person the next time you see him?

We went out on Saturday night to see Zed Leppelin, a - you guessed it - Led Zeppelin cover band. They were ok. Tim's friend Aaron came up. He's looking for lurve and apparently prefers redheads but was checkin' out pretty much any remotely lovely lady in the place. He's a really nice guy who, if she's still available, might be interested in Ms. [livejournal.com profile] viksin's cousin who was not blonde and therefore did not qualify to be Lon's one-night stand. He owns his own house, works for IBM and has two crazy cats named after mythological goddesses. mhmm

That's all I got. Aaron was asking if there'd be any hot single women at the wedding and I told him no. Because if we aren't already married with kids, we've got a kid and are looking at a house with our current boyfriend. Unless my cousin Jenny is single but she falls below the "at least 26" age limit Aaron defined.

Anyhoo, there was some very fake looking lady at the bar that Aaron saw and immediately alerted Tim to her presence and then they both agreed whole-heartedly that I should buy that shirt she was wearing because I'd "look really HOT" in it:

So I went up to lady and politely tapped her on the shoulder. She looked at me and then turned back to the bar. I tapped her again and she ignored me. I tapped her one more time and the guy with her then tapped her on the shoulder to let her know I was trying to talk to her. I managed to quickly ask where she bought the shirt before she briefly stated "Arden B's at the Mall of America" and then turned back to the bar, snubbing me. I didn't even have time to compliment her on it or anything before she snubbed me.

Aaron asked, "So was she as much of a bitch as she looked?" HA!

But anyhoo, so I found the website online and they have some crazy ugly things there, ( like this lovely set of pants: ) but also have some other cute things as well, like this top:

And I still need to find cute outfits for the bridal shower and then the newly decided female family get-together. And the rehearsal barbeque...

How cute is this dress?

Of course, that is something I'd have to try on first at the store...

Target has some very not cute and borderline ugly housecoat dresses on their website...

Does anyone know of stores/websites to find cute not-too-dressy dressy outfits?
jillithian: (Polly)
I just spent waaayyy too much money on clothes from Target. But they were all things I will wear and use: socks, underwear, and workout clothes.

I'm concerned about our party on Saturday. It seems the people I am most eager to see (as I don't see them very often) still can't make it despite about a month's notice. I'm disappointed. I realize I should just grow up and get over it, but....

Confirmed missing in actions: [livejournal.com profile] thetim, [livejournal.com profile] viksin
Possible missing in actions: [livejournal.com profile] princeaeneas, [livejournal.com profile] superna, Karen, Alan, and Levi

And then when I tried to confirm that Amanda and Matt were coming, they both had forgotten.

I'm feeling a little unloved today. :(

Tim and I stopped at St. Cloud Floral downtown to get a better idea of the flowers for the wedding. Turns out he really likes the bouquet Jody and I found in a magazine oh-so-long ago, too. The nice lady who knows the leavy things told us the four main flowers in the picture and gave us an estimate of about $130 for it. She also said they'd work with us if our budget only has us have $100 for the bridal bouquet by taking out a couple of the more expensive flowers or adding more local flowers, etc. We were pretty impressed with how nice she was and set up an appointment for next Friday at 2pm to sit down and delve deeper.

additional wedding babble with pictures )

After that, we stopped at the golf store that is closing and Tim found a $400 wood for just barely $200 (after tax). He can't wait to brag to Gary about it. :)

Then he wandered around TJMax a bit and spent lots of money at the grocery store and I somehow convinced him to take me to Cork's Grill and Wine Bar that I'd never been to before. Silly me, I forgot my ID at home and had to drink water while he tasted three different wines. *pout* It was by far the most expensive meal I've ever had as, after tip, we paid $110. No shit. I had the filet mignon in a tart sauce I wasn't too fond of, but the beef was juicy and soft and so delicious. It also had buttery potatoes and various green veggies. Before that, I had the salad with an obviously just-made-for-my-order blackberry vinaigrette that was delicious. And for an appetizer we had the half-serving of the cheese tray. Yum. A cheese from England, Italy, and France with two different flat breads to try them on and some tasty grapes as garnish. Tim had the two-soups-in-one-bowl for his dinner prelude and the shrimp champagne bisque was delicious. He wasn't too fond of the other one even though it had bacon in it. I stole a bite, and the shrimp bisque was really quite good. His meal was the Cork's (shell) Fish Bowl. It had king crab legs, clams, mussels, cold-water lobster and shrimp on top of dinosaur-egg potatoes in a creamy butter sauce. Note to whoever orders this -- go easy on the lemon as at first Tim thought it was delicious but it got a little too bitter at the end. They also gave us 2 slices of three different breads to dip in some oil and vinegar (Tim's first time dipping bread, but I think he survived :)

After that, we stopped at three different stores to find a game Tim wanted, only to be told he'd have to order it online instead. We then went home only to be disappointed that Gilmore Girls was a rerun. But we did get a good laugh or two out of My Name is Earl. Then we popped in Ocean's 12 that Tim had rented. I didn't like it as much as the first. I thought it was forced and messy and just not as well-planned or executed. And Julia Roberts looked like death -- too thin, too pale/dark. Ech. And I think my opinion of Brad Pitt has taken a turn for the worse since the break-up with Jen. I found him more annoying than charming and that horse-laugh is atrocious. But it was nice snuggling up to my favorite person with my favorite kitty cat for a couple of hours.
