So funny thing.

[livejournal.com profile] princess_nicci is up visiting this weekend and last night we went over to Angela's new apartment.

Ok. Two funny things.
Er, maybe three...
  1. Angela's new apartment is #205 in a building that I lived in just before I moved in with Tim. I lived in apartments #304 and #206 in that exact same building. Huh. Small town.

  2. Angela has pet rats. She previously had three female rats. She then bought two more - one male and one female. This week she became a "grandma". Now she has 15 rats! They are so little!!!

  3. Finally, the really funny thing. So, at Nicci's wedding, my husband Tim was sitting at a table with some of Nicci's friends. He had a few more than a few drinks. He gets really friendly when he has a few more than a few drinks. He gave this couple his phone number and told them that if they were ever in St. Cloud, to give him a call and we'll go out and have a few beers.

They later asked Nicci if we were swingers.

Apparently, they couldn't figure out why else he would be so friendly and give out his phone number!

When Angela heard that story, she then informed me that her friend Krystal was also questioning why my husband gave her his phone number after the party the cops broke up.

Apparently he hasn't lost his touch. I guess he needs to figure out how to change his former man-whore-hitting-on-chicks-at-the-bar attitude into more of a non-sexual chummy attitude. But who can really blame these people for being unsure? The man just reeks of hotness. *grin*

This week has been an odd week and it is only Wednesday. But it doesn't feel like Wednesday. I've had the hardest time figuring out what day it is.

I think there is a conspiracy going on here. And I think that somehow Tim is involved, whether consciously or not. See, I tend to wear brown clothes as I think that color works on me. My husband is not a fan of brown clothes. I just realized this week that the two pairs of nice-ish brown slacks I have both need to be repaired as the cuff on the right leg of both of them has come undone. I find it too much of a coincidence that they both have the right cuff unsewn. *glares suspiciously at my right ankle*

Last night all of the co-workers and I went out to have a nice dinner. On my way home I got pulled over. I was in a mild panic. I went through my mind what I could have possibly done to get pulled over: speeding? no. swerving? no. seatbelt? on. blinker? used. I had had two small glasses of wine with dinner, but that was over a few hours and with lots of food and water mixed in.

Turns out my passenger headlight and license plate light were both out. The officer ended up just giving me a reminder - not even an official fix-it ticket - after checking my drivers license and insurance card and verifying my contacts were in. I believe the only words I said to him were "Yes, sir. No, sir. Sounds good. Thank you, sir. You, too." I promptly drove the remaining 4 blocks home and had a warm bubble bath. I'm bringing my car in this afternoon to have the lights replaced - I'm stressed out enough as it is without getting accosted by the authorities. (I'm exaggerating - the police officer was very polite. I hadn't noticed my lights were out, so I'm thankful he told me.)

I'm excited for [livejournal.com profile] thetim and [livejournal.com profile] princess_nicci's wedding this weekend. It should be a lot of fun. Then on Monday I'm flying down to Dallas for a few days for work. I'm not sure how that will be, but it's a new state on my list.

I need a nap.

So, [livejournal.com profile] thetim and [livejournal.com profile] princess_nicci have been kind enough to ask me to be an usher in their wedding in March. The difficulty lies in that the main color of the wedding is brown and it will be in a catholic church so I apparently have to wear sleeves of some sort. (I don't know these rules - I was baptized catholic but we went to Lutheran churches up until I went Humanist)

I think I have found a winner:

Brown is challenging as there are many shades and mixing multiple shades of it usually doesn't work. I hope this one won't clash too badly and is still classy enough to walk Nicci's elder relatives up the aisle while not making me look like a potato sack. But one doesn't want to show up the lovely bride, either.

Hopefully it will fit, also. It said it should arrive within 4 to 7 business days...

OH! I didn't even think about the what shoes I'd wear!

Quick!

  • Not a kidney stone. Got some antibiotics and feeling better!
  • New news! I will be a bridesmaid in Gary and Terryll's wedding in June!
  • Researching rain gardens... Maplewood, Minnesota has done some neat things. I don't know yet if its feasible at our house, but it'd be nice if our laundry room didn't flood every spring!
  • Does anyone know of a good book or two on XML and .NET? New projects at work and it will need to be European compatible (being owned by a French company and all...)
  • Hey Karma, be nicer to everyone who has had babies very recently or will be having babies very soon! No more gestational diabetes, carpal tunnel syndrome, liquid filled cysts and labor horror stories. I mean it!
  • Oh yeah. The lab technician (James) at the clinic on Friday just happened to be the same guy I worked with at Sears in the Electronics department who also was the president of the fraternity across the street from me at my first apartment. Talk about the world getting smaller! I still remember him dressed up as a drunken sailor for Halloween one year...
  • Busy weekends this month: company party this weekend, Hawaii next weekend (missing [livejournal.com profile] princess_nicci's bridal shower), then [livejournal.com profile] motogeek's poker party.

Ok, so maybe not that quick. heh.

Holy crap balls, Batman.

This is the first year I've palyed it and [livejournal.com profile] princess_nicci was kind enough to set up a Rookies Only football league, with Mr. [livejournal.com profile] thetim as our guidance. This week was the third week in a row I lost in Fantasy Football. This gets rather frustrating when I think I was in second place one week. But this was the last week before the playoffs. First through third place had already clinched the playoff spot and I was up against "tight pants" - the person who, if they beat me by more than so many points, could steal my playoff spot and I'd drop down to fifth place.

Now, I don't know how it works on other sites, but we use Yahoo Sports and it shows projected scores for the week. I had my line-up set with a projected total of 109 points. Ms. tight pants had a projected total of 98 points. I was feeling pretty confident in the win.

Sunday was almost over and all but two of my players were either done playing or late in their games. Score: tight pants: 98 -- Bean's Beaners: 26

I was pissed. This wasn't the first time those damn projected points bit me in the ass. But I was confident this week and playing players that had decent track records, and I had 26 points.

Here is the Commissioner's note: ([livejournal.com profile] thetim)
With 9:13 left in the third quarter, New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Marques Colston. The score effectively ended the game, giving the Saints a 24-7 lead. But in the fantasy football world, it did so much more. That touchdown pass, coming in the third quarter of the final game of the week, gave Bean's Beaners enough points to sneak into the playoffs as the fourth seed.

It's situations like that make fantasy football so addicting. You could be watching the Monday Night game between two teams you don't care about to see if you'll qualify for the playoffs, or you could be watching the Vikings on Sunday, only to get a little excited when they do a game break, hoping to see one of your players break a long one.

Anyway, the playoffs are set, beginning Thursday. They're only two weeks long - there's usually no fantasy football in Week 17, because most teams are resting their stars.

So to the four who made the playoffs, congratulations, and good luck.

(I had Drew Brees as my quarterback and Marques Colston as one of my wide receivers.)

Oh yeah, and the above note is just one of the reasons I think that [livejournal.com profile] thetim should get back into sports writing. :)

So, I lost this week. The score was 94 - 80. Tight pants and I have a shared record of 6-7-1, with me only beating her with an overall score of 1272 - 1263. That's right. 9 points.

Holy crap balls, Batman.

Of course, being fourth place means the first round of playoffs is against [livejournal.com profile] princess_nicci who is in first place and has the juggernaut team of Tom Brady, Randy Moss and LaDainian Tomlinson (her overall record is 11-3-0 and overall score is 1503 - I lost to her both times this season). So any hopes of winning better than fourth place are slim to none. But I made it to the fricken playoffs.

Boo ya!

(This helps distract me from the fact that I got a 57.5% on my midterm last week - and was still in the top 10% of the curve!)

So, I got a rather lovely phone call today from Mr. [livejournal.com profile] thetim. He asked me to be an usher in his wedding next year! !!! My first question: Do I get to wear a tux? It has been done before about six years ago:

Prom 2001
No, he isn't short. I am.
Prom 2001

But, alas. No. No tux for me. But I'm still pretty excited about it!
jillithian: (Smile)
Oh my goodness. I am literally crying and the cat doesn't quite know what to think.

Two things just happened:
  1. My cell phone rang and it was my co-worker Missy. A little surprising, as she left work very early today because her mother was having an emergency angioplasty surgery. She called to let me know that she missed me last week and she really appreciated the hug I gave her today just before she left. That really made me feel good.
  2. After I hung up with her, I noticed I had a text message from [livejournal.com profile] thetim. He's engaged! So of course I had to call him and congratulate him. It's really wonderful news. He's a completely stronger, happier, and more confident person ever since [livejournal.com profile] princess_nicci entered his life. I'm just so excited and happy for them!

That's all I got. :)
