Oh goodness...

So, I was SO afraid that almost nobody would be at our party on Saturday. I was all depressed and mopey and feeling unloved that when Karen and Alan and baby Levi showed up two hours early instead of one hour early like they planned, Tim had to leave quick and go shopping and called everyone on his phone list to make sure some would come!

Little Levi will be 1 on February 1st and he is on.the.move. And it seems that his goal is to break things and rip them apart. Luckily the only actual victim at our house was my grandmother's travel spinning wheel which was easily put back together. He really is a doll, though, and Karen and Alan seem to really enjoy being parents. History cat is the entertainment at our house and Levi is the entertainment at theirs, apparently! And, Karen gave me a heads up on a job opportunity here in St. Cloud that I'm currently mulling over.

They left at about 6pm and we had a lull until just after 7. Dewey and Kelly came and brought this tasty frozen lime slushy that got me happily buzzed (I hear there was vodka in it). Jody and Jack and Corey also came and brought some tasty beverages. Jack, of course, was entertaining -- sitting on the front of Tim's weight set and giving Corey "motorcycle" rides. heh Jody and Kelly helped me in making some delicious "Chicken and chipotle sour cream tortilla chips" I found in a new Weight Watchers cookbook. They were a hit as many people gobbled them up. Dewey was on "Meat Patrol" as my confidence in cooking meat not pre-packaged or in the microwave is just above my confidence in rebuilding a car engine. He made sure all of the chicken was cooked through. Tim made his delicious cheese-in-the-middle meatballs that were also gobbled up.

Cyndy and Dennis arrived and Cyndy proceeded to entertain everyone as she usually does with her flamboyant and unique perspective on all things. She's a joy to have at parties as she will make everyone feel more comfortable. Dennis, after hearing that football was on the TV downstairs, immediately made a semi-permanent home somewhere in front of it with Lon.

Scott K. stayed for a bit but he had to work Sunday morning at 7 and so didn't stay too long. Scott D. was unable to make it as he had to work that night from 7 to 7, but luckily he sent his fiance Katie to make an appearance. Her love of all things Target is only surpassed by Cyndy's because Cyndy never worked there. heh. There were two pairs of very fabulous shoes (faux fur leopard skin pumps and classy wine colored, pointy-toed, "leather" heels) down by the door and I had to think a bit to figure out which one of those two wore which pair. (Cyndy - fur, Katie - "leather").

[livejournal.com profile] superna and her husband were able to make it, which made me very happy. She happily joined in on the "who doesn't need to lose weight and whose boobs are how big" discussion we girls all had in the kitchen. HA! And by the end of the night she had kicked all of our drunk and sleepy butts at 90s Trivial Pursuit. Cuz she rocks like that.

Trent was one of the earlier arrivers and didn't leave until after 6am! He seemed to be having a wonderful time and gave Dewey a run for his money at foosball. He and Tim stayed up playing darts and BSing about anything and everything. I like Trent better and better each time I meet him as he's someone who'll call you out when you're out and call you home when you're home. :)

We saw Terryll's cousin Jen at the Wild game on Thursday and I had promptly invited her. She was able to make it up as well and I think she had a jolly good time, herself. She is also another lovely person to have at a party as she is good-hearted and just a happy sweet person who makes people feel at ease. Terryll and Gary made it for a bout an hour or so later as Gary's company holiday party had also been that night. I thought the funniest thing was the cat fishing pole. All day, that toy was in use -- first Levi, the 1-yr-old, then Jack the 2-yr-old, and then Gary the 34-yr-old. HA! Gary was fishing for ass-crack and cleavage instead of helping Cyndy play trivial pursuit. (It might have helped that he was also three sheets to the wind after leaving his open-bar holiday party).

Matt and Amanda also were able to come over for a couple hours. I think Matt was ready to make an offer to buy our house, as he absolutely loved it. You know, once it's been cleaned and all of the clutter is away, it is a pretty nice house! :)

All in all, I think it was a very good party. Most of it was spent with the girls upstairs munching on the veggie tray while giggling and the boys downstairs watching tv and BSing. We all had a lovely time and my favorite was when Jodya told me what Corey said: "These guys are fun. We should be friends with these people!"

I do get nervous when different friends groups combine as I never quite know how they'll get along. But I think Saturday was a good success. The people who were unable to come were missed, but it was a rather enjoyable night regardless.
