The newest addition to our family!
viksin was kind enough to let her stay with me for the summer so I can learn how to ride.
I got her a new battery today and, after some tweaking, a flying spark and and a bit of gas, she started up!
I tried to take her out for a test run, but didn't do so well. I got down almost to the end of the alley before I killed the engine again while trying to stop. Then it took me about two minutes of watching traffic go by before I had the balls to try to turn the corner on my way to the college's parking lot (where I had my class and was hoping to practice a bit).
Well, I must not have turned sharp enough and hit the curb and somehow ended up jumping off of the bike (which was still in first gear) and had to hit the engine kill switch before she took herself off down the block.
Sorry, Christel, but I already dumped the bike!
Luckily the back tire was on the grass on top of the curb and the front tire was in the gutter (with the bike lying slanted on the curb), plus, the tank was pretty much empty, so I was able to pick her back up again. Watched a few more cars drive by me and started her up again.
I managed to turn into the parking lot, down the little bit of drive and turned around the grassy median. I tried to turn the throttle but each time it sounded like it was getting
less gas. I shifted her back into neutral and in a few seconds she sputtered until finally she stopped.
Guess I didn't add enough gas. heh
So, having had enough of my adventure for one evening, I walked her back home and into the garage. I think she's fine and all she needs now is a full gas tank and some new tabs which I hope to get sometime this week.
