May. 20th, 2011 07:44 pmJust a quick check in...
I am officially 30. My husband will be officially 40 on Tuesday. We are celebrating his impending geezer-hood tomorrow. Unfortunately, the weather decided to not behave, so instead of golf and backyard grilling, we are deck/kitchen cooking and bowling.
#30daysofbiking was successfully completed in April. I have biked to work once this month. I started #c25k this week and completed the first week today. I may have to repeat week 1 just so the dog can keep up! She was pretty tired out today.
I'm liking #c25k more than #30daysofbiking so far because I can take the dog with me. I seem to have a certain quota of energy per day and it tends to not include both biking and dog walking on the same day. Unless I bike to work... strange how that is. But I still can only really bike to work once a week as I won't be able to see my husband for lunch those days.
The husband is doing some massive backyard gardening projects. The dog is absolutely loving the backyard being fenced in. We bought VFFs this month and they make chasing the dog around the backyard SO MUCH FUN. Your feet can actually get some grip when you chase her around the tree. :) I've been wearing them for my #c25k runs, too, and have no complaints at all other than they are good dandelion pickers. I've been mostly running on grass around a park so my knees haven't been bothering me at all.
Next weekend will be the first weekend up at the cabin for us - it will be chilly (highs in the low 60s) but the sun on the beach will feel nice and the general lack of connectivity and stress will be great, too. The weekend after that, we are babysitting
jo_mommday's boys while she is in her friend's wedding. The summer busy weekend season is definitely upon us!
I'm just excited I figured out why my PC wouldn't boot up! It freezes from time to time and I think it froze while trying to access the external harddrive, so when I was trying to boot it, the external harddrive was mid-process and would block the PC from booting past the BIOS splash screen. I thought I'd have to replace the whole thing, but realized I just needed to unplug the external harddrive. ALL IS WELL.
My billboard is no longer up. We checked for it at the beginning of the month and it is now replaced by something else. But I was a billboard star for two months and got recognized by a couple coworkers, a sister-in-law,
viksin's sister, the lady who owns Just Sew Studio where I had my sewing class, and Jo McMullen-Boyer - one of the few paid people at KVSC who sent me my thank you letter for pledging to the radio station. That last one was a surprise! I'm still quite all right with not getting paid for that gig. I only hope it helped Kelly's photography business a little bit as she donated her time and talent to take the pictures and didn't get her name on the thing. (I'm in her Headshots gallery!)
Now for house cleaning to prepare for guests tomorrow...
