Last night I dropped off the 23 FunSaver cameras from the reception at Coborns. It'll be interesting to see if I can tell the difference between the photos of the most avid photographers that night: the 2 year old ring bearer Jack or the 9 year old nephew Craig. Neither of whom really got the concept of setting the flash. :)
I am an actual aunt now. Not just an honorary auntie to an adorable blond boy, but an actual crazy aunt to a 17 year old, a 16 year old and a 9 year old boy. I'm a little off-put by how old two of them are already. I have strange romantic notions that you grow up with aunts and uncles that are already married by the time you are born and you get to grow up with them. Or, at least, that's what happened with me. So I kind of missed out on Alex and Dax growing up, but Craig is still pretty impressionable.* :)
The wedding day was really golden. Literally. The weather reports kept saying it would be rainy or windy or cloudy. I woke up early for my hair appointment and there was a huge front of clouds in the sky. But before noon, it had completely cleared out, with hardly any clouds. A beautiful sunny, mid-70s day with a slight breeze. Just enough breeze to make the photographer a little flustered. The golden came from the millions of May flies. They don't bite, but they definitely crawled and landed and tickled. The sun bouncing off of their yellow bodies made for a very golden aura around the park.
Tim was absolutely handsome. The girls all looked so lovely. (In fact, Karen's husband even mentioned he thought they might get a room instead of driving home that night... heh) The flowers I didn't care about much. It was so hard just to pick out flowers because of the multi-colored flowers on the dress. So, basically, I didn't care at all about the bouquets. At the end of our time at the park, when we were taking some last minute family photos, Jody was actually running after me with my bouquet and I was yelling "I don't want it! I don't want it!"
Jack was absolutely in love with the "fire engine" at the playground. So much, that we ended up taking some fun wedding party photos on it just because we couldn't pull him away!
I just got finished planting some flowers around the mailbox and digging up our tulip bulbs in the back garden. Just as I was digging up my last tulip, it started to sprinkle, so I think I timed it pretty well. I'm off to the gym now, as it's been over two weeks and I feel the flab coming on!
*In March, it was my new sister-in-law Sandra's and my new father-in-law Art's birthday so we had dinner at Olive Garden. Sandra had Craig bring his social studies homework with: Family. He filled it out for his gandparents, his parents and his uncle Tim and aunt Jill. One of the questions was about hobbies. My hobby? Chasing kitty cats around the house. Craig grinned and eagerly wrote it down, saying he liked to chase kitty cats, too.
