I'm diggin' it.

And, [livejournal.com profile] _flyonthewall_ has some always-amazing phtography going on in his journal today, including just one more how-cool-is-that building in Detroit.

From [livejournal.com profile] superna:

Guilt
What is yours?
Explain yourself
Culinary: Spaghettios (or Franco American Spaghetti) luke-warm out of the can Eh. My brother and I would be lazy growing up and would just dump the can contents in a bowl and start eating. It's goooood.
Literary: National Enquiror, et al. Raod trips and weekends up at the cabin just require the utmost class in literary journalism. Plus, I like to feel better about myself when rich famous people look like ass buying groceries.
Audiovisual: Project Runway I can't help it. They're judging people on how classy they can make garbage look on a model! Using real garbage!
Musical: New Wave It's happy and bouncy and catchy and sometimes clever and I remember folding laundry with my mom with it on the radio while I was a kid.
Celebrity: Zach Braff He's my not-so-secret secret tv boyfriend

Amanda and I had a grand old time looking at the homes on the Historic Homes tour here in Cloud.

Bishop Busch sure was a rich man back in the day. His house was gigantic. It now holds the offices of the St. Cloud Arch Diocese and the past four bishops (not including our current) all lived in the apartment on the third floor across from the chapel room. One thirty-something fellow who is completely gutting and renovating one of the houses on the tour was practically giddy when an elderly lady disclosed she had boarded there one summer in 1938. It had been college apartments for quite a few years recently and the house is currently studs and floors now.

After the tour, Amanda and I had lunch at Jules Bistro next to the Paramount. She had the veggie wrap and I had the veggie sandwich. I think [livejournal.com profile] viksin would really like the place. It's much different from the last time I was there, Halloween 2000, when it was "The Garden on St. Germain". I think it was the last night I saw my roommate Andrea before my friends and I left all of her stuff in her boyfriend's driveway on New Years Day.

I couldn't imagine what Amanda's sister is going through at the moment. Married for less than a year. Divorced two weeks ago, pregnant for three months and now married to baby's daddy but she hasn't offically told Amanda or her mom yet that she's married again. All at the age of 21. Holy balls.

From here: Serendipity gets new ownership

The former Serendipity coffeehouse will become The Book and Bean Café on June 26.

The Calvary Chapel Saint Cloud is the new owner of the coffee shop, said the Rev. Dominic Dinger, senior pastor of the church.

"We're excited," Dinger said of the church's new venture.

The former home at 1705 St. Germain St. will also house church offices upstairs. The shop is closed while the new owners get ready to reopen.

It will feature breakfast and lunch offerings, along with coffee, tea and desserts. The new shop also will sell inspirational books, Bibles and music.

Dinger said the new owners plan to continue with the "excellent" customer service that Serendipity started.

The coffeehouse and bookstore will be open to the community and no church services will be conducted there.

Serendipity opened in June 2004. It offered food, coffee and had an art gallery.

Dinger said The Book and Bean Café will be open 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

This is one of those old houses that are so neat to be in, but maybe not late at night by yourself. There is definitely a ghost in the upstairs hallway, by the door to the balcony. I'm disappointed that Serendipity is closed, now, though. They had delicious and unique food and hot caffeinated beverages and a neat art gallery. Plus, the house was obviously well taken care of and was absolutely gorgeous on the inside.

Two things that are making me smile:

from cuteoverload.com and
this post from [livejournal.com profile] uvaspina

I am about a third of the way done with Thank You cards. My hands hurt, though. I hope the pictures from Coborns turn out ok. Some photoshopping must have been done for the super-sweet slideshow DVD, but I don't think they were done to the real pictures on the photo dvd. So, hopefully that one turned out ok.

Tim took me to see the house he and Scott bought. It's definitely an oldie, but still a good one. At first I was incredibly nervous to go in there (it's 140 years old!) and I still wouldn't want to be in there alone at night, but after I figured out the original layout of the house and it became more homey in my mind's eye, I got less frightened by it.

Yes, old buildings can freak me out sometimes. I am a wuss.

My ring finger feels funny.

It's odd how when you first get a piece of jewelry that you are almost required to wear daily but are used to wearing no jewelry that your finger feels funny.

And it's odd how, almost a year and a half later, when you are not wearing said piece of jewelry, your finger feels funny.

I don't wear the thing to the gym. I don't wear it in the shower or when I go swimming. And it doesn't feel funny then. But it feels funny now.

I dropped it off at the jeweler's to get it (and the wedding band) sized and soltered. Hopefully it will be ready by Thursday like they said.

Eep.

Oh. And I also just reserved the Lake George suite at the Victorian Oaks Bed and Breakfast in St. Cloud for the night before the wedding night. That balcony up front there? That's part of my room. :) And I got it for HALF PRICE because I mentioned the pamphlet I found at Serendipity which had a coupon for 20% off or so, but Mr. Louis Foote said I could get it for half price because it's available.

woot! I think it will be so neat to get ready for my wedding day in one of the most amazing houses in St. Cloud. *grin*
